Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic water, the world’s greenest water, has taken a significant step towards environmental conservation. Waiakea Water is reported to begin using a fully degradable bottle in its packaging. The brand has reportedly praised their new technology, citing its potential to change the CPG industry globally. The new bottle has a reduced lifespan of about 98%, is 100% recyclable and uses TimePlast. The company will be the first to use TimePlast’s nano-technology in its packaging.
The New Plastic Bottle is Both Strong and Weak
According to Ryan Emmons, the founder and CEO of the company, taking a unique approach to polymers enabled the process. He further pointed out that his company does not leave biodegradation process to nature: they support it right from manufacturing. The process turns polymers into a carbon based wax. Introduction of TimePlast has been cited to replace normal plastic’s chemical bonds with less complicated links. The end product is a bottle that is physically strong but very weak in terms of degradation.
Ryan has pointed out that the new bottle is cost efficient. He has, however, noted that the process was not a smooth one. Like any other new idea, this innovative approach presented significant challenges to the manufacturers but eventually they were sorted out.
